What to bring to the polls

To vote early or on Aug. 6, Tennessee voters are required to bring valid photo identification to the polls. A driver’s license or photo ID issued by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, the Tennessee state government, or the federal government are acceptable, even if expired. College student IDs are not accepted.

Because this general election is combined with a state party primary, voters will be asked whether they want a Republican or Democratic ballot. This will not affect whether they vote with party affiliation in the Montgomery County General Election races. Voters may also opt for a County General Election-only ballot that does not include the party primary races.
