CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Driscoll “Cole” Augustine is an Army veteran, physician, educator, and public-school graduate running to represent District 7 on the Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board.

“Service guides my life,” Augustine said. “My father was a career high school history teacher that emphasized that an education is the greatest competitive advantage in adulthood. It is that mindset that instills a desire to strengthen our schools, so every student can succeed.”

Augustine grew up in Central Illinois and joined the Army National Guard in 2001 at 17, serving as a mechanic. Today, he works for Vanderbilt Medical Group, supporting community health, and performing sports medical coverage for the Red River Spartans and Kirkwood High School Football.

He is a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University, the Owen School of Management at Vanderbilt, and completed the Sports Medicine Fellowship at Wake Forest. “I am grateful for our elementary school teachers; they are a blessing to us and are crucial in our children’s development. Whenever I teach, whether it was technical based engine assembly, middle school trig/pre-calc, or cholesterol management to a resident, I always try to find ways to incorporate foundational knowledge that helps students later in life.“

Augustine is a lifetime member of the VFW, the Sons of the American Revolution, and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. His wife, Nida, is a medical director with Vanderbilt Clarksville Hospital. Their three children attend Kirkwood Elementary School.

“The district is doing great, but there is room for improvement and growth,” Augustine said. “We must learn from some of the unfortunate events across our region over the last several years. Our district is not immune to tragedies and mistakes as we experienced our own share of them. With that said, we need the right decision makers in place going forward.”
