CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Chris Carbin, an Army veteran and CMCSS teacher, has announced his candidacy to serve District 20 on the Montgomery County Commission.

Carbin has called Montgomery County home for over a combined 25 years and District 20 home for 14 years. In that time, he and his wife, Nikki, have raised five children together. They regularly attend Hilldale Baptist Church.

Carbin served in the U.S. Army from 2006 to 2013. His duty stations include Fort Leonard Wood, Korea, Fort Lee, and Fort Campbell. While stationed at Fort Campbell, he deployed to Afghanistan with the 723rd E.O.D.

After leaving the Army, Carbin continued to serve as a local educator with over 11 years of service in Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools. He holds two Bachelor of Science degrees, in History and Business Management, as well as a Master’s degree in Business Administration.

In addition to teaching, Carbin has coached several high school sports, including football, wrestling and cross country. He has also coached several youth teams through the Montgomery County Soccer Association, Clarksville Parks and Recreation, and St. Bethlehem Little League. He said he firmly believes that investing in our youth will have profound impacts for our community in the future.

“My campaign is focused on responsible growth, expanding opportunities for our students, and fiscal responsibility. For too long our growth has outpaced our infrastructure, overcrowded our schools, and strained services for those who need it most.” Carbin said he looks to bring a fresh voice to the commission. “Improvements need to happen now, not in the future at the prolonged expense of Montgomery County residents.

“As a former athlete and longtime coach, I have decided it is time to get off the bench and get into the game.”
