CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Northeast wide receiver Terry Jones has been named Clarksville Now Player of the Week following an all-around performance that included a touchdown on a kickoff return and a defensive scoop-and-score.
Jones has been a key piece of the Eagles’ offense this season and established himself as one of the area’s top receivers. He’s totaled 13 touchdowns on the year, helping Northeast return to the playoffs for the first time in four years. A 43-13 victory over Northwest capped off a .500 regular season, with the Eagles finishing 5-5.
Northeast head coach Deonte Weston said Jones’ leadership and focus have been important to the team’s success.
“He’s one of our leaders on offense. I’ll tell you, going into last week, if you want to talk about a kid who was focused, there was nobody more focused than him. He wasn’t trying to overlook Northwest. He was making sure everybody was staying focused, and he just wanted to go out there and play ball,” Weston said.
Jones will certainly be in contention for a spot on the 2026-27 All-Area team, but first, the Eagles have their sights set on a playoff run. Northeast will look for its first postseason victory since 2020 when it travels to face Memphis Central on Friday.
Weston expects his senior receiver to play a major role in that opportunity.
“He’s definitely going to impact that game in a really big way because, at the end of the day, on a Friday night, you’ve just got to get your guys the ball. We’re going to be seeing him with the ball, along with some of our other guys.”
