River City Clay Studio will be hosting a special reception on Sept. 11 from 6-8 p.m. to honor the 20th anniversary of 9/11 by exhibiting a growing collection of ceramics platters painted by Gold Star families, first responders, military personnel and their families.
In 2017, Ken and Melody Shipley made over 75 ceramic platters that would be decorated by members of the community, many of whom were directly impacted by 9/11 and the events that followed. These platters became part of a larger art installation that would honor the heroes that served and continue to serve. The exhibition collection has grown with every passing year, and River City Clay Studio plans to continue to invite the community to decorate platters every year to honor those who will never be forgotten.

The current full collection of platters will be on display at River City Clay Studio through Oct. 31.
