CLARKSVILLE, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library is excited to announce two special initiatives in celebration of National Library Week, taking place April 19-26: a Fine-Free Week and Food for Fines. These efforts reflect this year’s theme, “Find Your Joy,” by helping patrons reconnect with the library, remove barriers to access, and give back to the community.
Fine-Free Week
Throughout National Library Week, the library will not charge overdue fees for materials returned between April 19-26. No questions asked, no strings attached. Just joy. This is the perfect time for patrons to return overdue items without penalty, re-activate blocked accounts, and of course, find joy in using library services again. Please note: Fine-Free Week applies only to overdue fines. Charges for lost or damaged items are not included.
Food for Fines
In addition to Fine-Free Week, the library is hosting a Food for Fines drive to support local food assistance organizations. For every non-perishable or shelf-stable food item donated, the library will remove $1 from existing overdue fines on a patron’s account, up to $30.
Accepted items include canned goods, boxed pantry staples, pasta, rice, and similar shelf-stable items. As with Fine-Free Week, Food for Fines applies only to overdue fines and does not include lost or damaged materials. All collected food will be donated to local partner organizations supporting residents facing food insecurity.
