At the Clarksville-Montgomery County Economic Development Council, our mission is to build a community where people want to visit, live, work and invest. The Made Here In Clarksville video series highlights the companies, people and products that contribute to the strength of our local economy and manufacturing community.

In our latest installment, we step inside LG Electronics, where advanced technology and a skilled local workforce are helping redefine what manufacturing looks like in Middle Tennessee.

High tech, made here in Clarksville

Robots may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you picture manufacturing in Middle Tennessee. Step inside LG Electronics’ Clarksville manufacturing facility, and the innovation is hard to miss. The company’s automated systems and skilled employees work side by side to produce household appliances that are shipped to homes across the country.

At its Clarksville facility, LG Electronics manufactures washing machines and dryers by pairing advanced production systems with the expertise of local employees. From assembly to inspection to final preparation, the operation reflects the growing role Clarksville-Montgomery County plays in the national manufacturing landscape.

“Last year, we made 1.4 million units, and this year we’re expected to make 1.8 million units,” LG Electronics Research and Development Director Jake Park said.

Where people and technology work together

A look inside the facility shows that advanced manufacturing is about more than robots.

Automated systems handle the precise and repetitive portions of production, while employees assemble, inspect, and prepare appliances. Together, people and technology help LG maintain quality and consistency as appliances move through production.

That innovation has earned international recognition. The World Economic Forum has recognized LG’s Clarksville operation as a Lighthouse Factory for its advanced technology and production efficiency, placing the Tennessee facility among manufacturing sites recognized for helping lead the transformation of global manufacturing.

“We’re very proud to produce these units here in Clarksville, Tennessee,” Park said. The company is also demonstrating its commitment to the community through its membership in the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce.

LG’s facility offers a glimpse of what modern manufacturing looks like and where it is headed. Today’s manufacturing careers increasingly exist at the intersection of technology, automation and hands-on expertise, requiring the kind of skilled workforce that has helped Clarksville-Montgomery County become a growing destination for advanced industry.

Innovation made in Clarksville

LG Electronics is part of a diverse manufacturing community that has helped establish Clarksville-Montgomery County as one of Tennessee’s leading locations for industry.

Companies across the region benefit from a skilled workforce, strategic transportation access and a business environment that supports both established manufacturers and new investment. Increasingly, those operations also demonstrate that some of the most advanced manufacturing technology isn’t confined to traditional technology centers or coastal cities.

That matters as Clarksville-Montgomery County continues to compete for the next generation of manufacturing investment. The technology operating inside facilities like LG is evidence that companies don’t have to choose between Tennessee’s manufacturing strengths and cutting-edge innovation. In Clarksville, they can find both.

For consumers, a washer or dryer may simply be an appliance in the laundry room. In Clarksville, each one tells a much larger story: global investment, advanced technology and local talent coming together to make products – and an economic impact – right here at home.
