At the Clarksville Montgomery County Economic Development Council, our mission is to build a community where people want to visit, live, work, and invest. While we often highlight new businesses locating here and existing companies growing, it’s just as important to celebrate the products being made in Clarksville, many of which are used across the country and around the world. Our “Made Here in Clarksville” series shines a light on the products behind that impact.

This month is a look at how the sauce, quite literally, is made. Our spotlight is on Kewpie Mayonnaise.

Clarksville’s reputation as a destination for international investment and advanced manufacturing continues to grow with Q&B Foods Inc., the U.S. manufacturing division of globally recognized Japanese food brand Kewpie.

Kewpie mayonnaise, salad dressings and sauces

Known around the world for its signature mayonnaise, salad dressings, and sauces, Kewpie opened its new production facility in Clarksville in 2025, bringing global flavor and economic momentum to Montgomery County. The company’s new $85 million manufacturing operation, located in the Industrial Park, represents a significant investment in the community and further strengthens the region’s position as a hub for international business and food manufacturing.

The new facility spans more than 250,000 square feet and will serve customers throughout the Midwest and East Coast, helping meet the growing North American demand for Kewpie products. The operation initially brings 85 new jobs to the area, with emphasis on long-term growth and future expansion plans for the site.

Founded in Japan more than a century ago, Kewpie has built an international following for its rich, egg-yolk-based mayonnaise and innovative sauces. Through Q&B Foods, the company has operated in the United States since the 1980s, and the Clarksville facility marks its second U.S. production plant. Clarksville and Montgomery County’s central location and proximity to customers east of the Mississippi River made the community a natural fit for expansion.

Clarksville attracting global industries

But beyond the economic impact, the project reflects something larger taking place in Clarksville: the continued ability to attract globally recognized brands seeking a business-friendly environment, strong workforce, and exceptional quality of life. The investment also highlights the growing international connections in the region as Montgomery County and the state of Tennessee continue building relationships with companies around the world.

For Clarksville, the arrival of Kewpie and Q&B Foods represents more than a new facility. It’s another example of how the community continues to blend global industry with local opportunity, creating jobs, attracting investment, and expanding its international footprint one project at a time.

“There are so many incredible things Made Here in Clarksville,” said Josh Ward, executive director of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Industrial Development Board. “Thanks to the Aspire Foundation for funding this project, we’re excited to give our community a behind-the-scenes look at the products manufactured right here at home, from cookware and Italian tile to washing machines. It’s all made here.”
