CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Kenwood senior quarterback Jakoby Cox has been named Clarksville Now Player of the Week following his performance in the Knights’ 33-21 win over Northeast. Cox got it done in the air with 152 passing yards with a touchdown, and also on the ground with 135 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

The Knights and Eagles both went into the game seeking their first win of the year. Both teams wanted it desperately, but Cox could execute early and often to lead the Knights to victory.

Kenwood head coach Jarhett Snead knows how important Cox is to the offense.

“Our success is largely based on what he can do,” said Snead. “When he effectively passes the ball and runs, we are more dangerous. He has been asking us to let him run the ball more, so I am pleased at the success we had with him being a dual threat.”

Cox enjoyed the win, but with four more games left in his senior season, he wants to keep working to grab a few more before the year is over.

“As a quarterback, it’s my job to make sure everybody is focused because I can’t do anything without my teammates. For my contribution, I wanted to make sure I stayed aggressive and kept my foot on the gas to ensure we came out with the win. It means a lot to get recognized for the hard work that you put in, and winning this award motivates me to continue working hard each and every day.”
