CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County has announced a search for a new Executive Director.
The nonprofit, established in 1992, seeks to eliminate poverty housing from the Clarksville and Montgomery County area and “make decent, affordable shelter for all people a matter of conscience.”
Kevin Underwood, President and acting Executive Director told ClarksvilleNow, “We’re looking for a mission-driven leader to oversee operations and fundraising and to provide shelter to more people in need.”

Habitat for Humanity partners with people who are required to put in ‘sweat equity’ (250 hours for individuals and 500 hours for families). They must also take classes on home ownership, money management, and demonstrate the ability to repay a zero-interest mortgage.
“There’s a misconception that we give away homes,” Underwood said. “We believe in giving community members a hand up, not a hand out.”
This month Habitat for Humanity will dedicate homes on Reynolds St. and Cedar St. in Clarksville.
Later this spring the organization will make a major announcement about work on its 100th home in Montgomery County.
