CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A 24-year-old Nashville woman has been sentenced to 30 years after pleading guilty to second-degree murder and aggravated child abuse in the 2021 death of her 2-month-old child.
As previously reported by Clarksville Now, on Jan. 9, 2021, the infant was unresponsive with a head injury and taken to Tennova Healthcare. The child was later flown by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville, and passed away from the injuries about three days later.
Investigators determined the injuries occurred while the child was in the care of the mother, Whitney Page Brown of the Whites Creek area of Nashville, who was then charged with first-degree murder in perpetration of a crime and aggravated child abuse.
More than five years after the child’s death, Brown pleaded guilty Thursday to aggravated child abuse and the lesser included charge of second-degree murder. She was sentenced to serve 30 years at 100% in the Tennessee Department of Corrections.
