CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Local teams gathered at the Customs House Museum on Tuesday for the Imagination Library of Montgomery County’s annual Bee-Lieve in Literacy Adult Spelling Bee Showdown. Attendees contributed more than $5,500 during the evening to support early childhood literacy in Montgomery County. The event included a reception and silent auction before the spelling competition began.

The Imagination Library of Montgomery County provides free books each month to local children from birth to age 5, helping families build home libraries and encouraging early literacy. Montgomery County Mayor Wes Golden spoke during the event. “Early childhood literacy is extremely important to the community,” Golden said.

It costs approximately $13,000 per month to operate the local Imagination Library program in Montgomery County. “There’s so many kids that benefit from this,” Golden said, crediting donations from individuals and organizations for helping support the program.

The Kiwanis Club of Clarksville returned as the event’s Queen Bee Sponsor, contributing $12,000, in addition to sponsorship contributions and the silent auction.
