CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – John Gannon has announced his campaign for re-election as the Republican nominee for District 1 Montgomery County commissioner.
With 17 years of service, Gannon said he has built a record of steady leadership and careful stewardship of taxpayer dollars. Appointed in 2009, he has served 12 years on the Budget Committee and six years as mayor pro-tem. Gannon has served on EMS, Sheriff, and Fire Committees. He also served 12 years on the Bi-County Landfill Board.
In 2011, Gannon opposed a proposed property tax increase, standing firm on the principle, he said, that county government must live within its means while fully funding essential services.
Gannon has supported public education through his work on the School Liaison Committee. He said he has also worked with local, state and federal partners to improve infrastructure and enhance quality of life. He said he has supported economic development efforts that helped recruit major employers including LG Chem, Hankook and Google, bringing high-quality jobs and long-term investment. Gannon also supported the expansion of Civitan Park and the funding structure of F&M Bank Arena without raising property taxes.
Born and raised in Clarksville-Montgomery County, Gannon returned home after working on Wall Street. He and his wife, Susan, are proud parents and grandparents.
“Seventeen years of service have produced real results,” Gannon said. “There is more work to do, and I am ready to continue serving District 1 with integrity, fiscal responsibility, and a commitment to our community.”
