CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Monica Meeks has announced her candidacy for Circuit Court Clerk of the 19th Judicial District, which covers both Montgomery and Robertson counties.
Meeks is a retired Army veteran with a graduate degree in Criminal Justice from Troy University. She is a Certified Fraud Examiner and a graduate of the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy, Class 1642. She also served the State of Tennessee for 12 years, working at the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury, and the Department of Commerce and Insurance.
Meeks has called Montgomery County home for 17 years. She is a proud “Big” with Big Brothers Big Sisters and encourages others to get involved in this life‑changing program. She has also served as a TN Promise mentor for more than 10 years, supporting students as they take their next steps toward college and career success.
She said she is running for three reasons:
- Customer service and trauma‑informed training: She believes every employee in the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office should receive strong customer service training with a focus on trauma‑informed care.
- Budget transparency: Since 2020, the office’s budget has increased by $4 million, yet only $25,000 is allocated for victim assessments. Monica is committed to ensuring residents understand how their tax dollars are being used.
- Public education and access: Many residents don’t know what services the Circuit Court Clerk provides. Monica wants to change that by making information more clear, accessible and available to everyone.
