CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Charles “Charlie” Patterson, incumbent District 6 School Board member, has announced his campaign for re-election. Patterson has served as District 6 School Board member since 2012 and is running for the Republican nomination.
According to his campaign, under the leadership of Patterson and the six other board members, the CMCSS has accomplished the following over the last eight years:
- Expansion of schools and programs of choice: CMCSS K-12 Virtual, Spanish Immersion School, two new High School College and Career Academies.
- Implementation of 1:1 technology for every student K-12.
- Funding and construction of the three-school Kirkwood complex, five additions at elementary schools and over $200 million in capital project investments.
- A historic 15.5% on average employee compensation increase in 2023.
- Since 2018, almost half of CMCSS schools have been named Reward Schools, performing in the top 5% in the state.
- Middle College at APSU was named a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School.
- CMCSS is nationally recognized for its Teacher Residency Pathways program.
- School Board named TSBA School Board of the Year in 2022.
Patterson is a member of Land Acquisition Committee, is past chairman of School Board, and is knowledgeable of the CMCSS $580 million budget, according to the campaign. He said he will continue to be available to all constituents and will invest in your child and grandchild to the best of his ability. “After all what is more important than our children?” he said.
Patterson was born in Clarksville and has lived here most of his life. He is married to the former Mary Jo Miller, who is a retired CMCSS teacher of 37 years. One of his daughters, Charlsie, is an ELL teacher at Rossview Elementary, and Patterson has two grandsons in the school system.
Patterson graduated from Clarksville High School and attended Oklahoma State University, majoring in math and business. He worked full-time for the Tennessee Army National Guard and retired with 20 plus years of service. He is the past owner of Patterson Properties. He served 16 years on the Clarksville City Council.
