CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – While much of Middle Tennessee is under an advisory for possible severe storms today, Montgomery County is on the edge of the advisory area and is at lower risk.

Severe storms are likely today between 1 and 9 p.m.

“These storms may produce either straight-lined winds and/or spin-up tornadoes,” according to the National Weather Service. “Additionally, gradient winds today are likely to gust to around 45 mph at times.”

For now, the south part of the county is in the Enhanced Risk area, with the north part in Slight Risk.

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System is closely monitoring the weather forecast, according to a notice sent to parents.

“At this time, Montgomery County is under a wind advisory but not any significant weather advisories or severe thunderstorm/tornado watches,” the notice said. “There is not a recommendation at this time to dismiss early based on the latest forecast. If the conditions change and there is a recommendation to dismiss early, the Communications Department will immediately communicate this information with families.”
