CLARKSVILLE, TN – Ramp Up Clarksville, a new mission outreach in Clarksville, will start their first project on Saturday, April 24. Ramp Up Clarksville was started by two Tennova Healthcare social workers who saw the need for handicap ramps for the elderly and disabled in our community.

Montgomery Central High School, The Bridge, Awaken Church, and Salem Community Church will be building four ramps, and the supplies are being provided through a grant with United Cerebral Palsy of Middle Tennessee. There is a need for more hands-on care for our aging population in Clarksville. The hope for Ramp Up Clarksville is that Saturday will be just the beginning.

Ramp Up creator and social worker Cortni Roy said, “There is a lack of resources for building ramps for the elderly and disabled in our community. Most elderly and disabled are living on a low-income, fixed budget. Housing options for disabled in our community are limited as well.”

“We have many patients that have extreme difficulty getting out of their homes for medical appointments. We saw the need and wanted to not only meet the need of our patients but also wanted to raise awareness in our community.”

One of the participating churches is The Bridge. Their director of Missions, Susanna Powers, said, “The Bridge has a heart to serve our community, and we are always thankful when a need is presented and we can pitch in. Plus, participating with other churches and volunteers is something that we get very excited about.”
