CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Some exciting news was released this week about the Austin Peay baseball teams’ 2027 season. The Govs will participate in the inaugural Spartanburg College Baseball Series alongside other teams like Wofford, Indiana and UNC Wilmington.
This tournament will take place at Fifth Third Park in Spartanburg, S.C., which is the home of the Hub City Spartanburgers, the High-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, according to a news release from REV Entertainment. The tournament will kick off on Feb. 26, 2027, and it will be one of seven tournaments across five locations that will comprise the College Baseball Series.
“We’re thrilled to bring the College Baseball Series to Fifth Third Park in partnership with the Hub City Spartanburgers,” said Jared Schrom, senior vice president of REV Entertainment. “Our goal has always been to grow the series in communities that are passionate about baseball, and Spartanburg is a perfect fit. Fifth Third Park is an outstanding venue, and we’re excited to introduce this event to a region with a tremendous appreciation for the sport.”

What is the College Baseball Series?
REV Entertainment, the official sports and entertainment company of the Texas Rangers, has been putting on the College Baseball Series since 2021, and the 2027 rendition will be the biggest yet. These series feature some of the top teams in college baseball and provide an opportunity for said programs to play on a national stage and get more exposure. This will be Austin Peay’s first time participating in the event.
The 2026 rendition saw 28 of the nation’s top programs participate in 43 games across three locations. UCLA, Texas State, Auburn, Michigan, and Oklahoma were the series winners in 2026.
According to the press release, Austin Peay is “just one season removed from a 45-win campaign and back-to-back Atlantic Sun Conference championships,” making them an ideal fit for the series.
“We’re excited to take our team to Spartanburg and participate in this event,” Austin Peay head coach Roland Fanning said. “This will be another opportunity to get some national exposure for Clarksville’s team. We hope everybody tunes in.”
Home plate reserved tickets, which provide access to all three days of the tournament, will go on sale Monday, June 29. General admission tickets will go on sale at a later date after the full schedule is revealed.
Under Fanning, the Govs have not been shy about scheduling quality opponents. Just in 2026 alone, the Govs had games against Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Alabama, Tennessee, among others.
