CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – First Thursday ArtWalk returns to Downtown Clarksville on Thursday, March 5 from 58 p.m.. ArtWalk is a free, self-guided tour spanning a 5-block radius that combines visual art, live music, events in more.

Downtown Artists Co-op

This month, the exhibit at the Downtown Artists’ Cooperative & Gallery is titled ‘HERBARIUM.’ The show will include a collection of recent original ink renditions by artist member D.C. Thomas.

“To me, Herbarium is an important collection of Sumi-e paintings on crinkled rice paper, delicate to the touch, pleasing to the eye, intriguing, alluring and sometimes reassuring. Some could be abstract erotic,” says Thomas. “Overall, Herbarium is apt of helping one’s mind to transition into daydreaming whilst looking at it.”

An opening reception for the show will be held throughout this month’s First Thursday ArtWalk, and will remain on display until March 28.

The Framemaker

The Framemaker, located at the corner of North Second Street and Georgia Avenue, across from Clarksville Academy, will hold an opening reception for a collection of works by Minneapolis-based artist Patrick Vincent.

“The series of prints “Turtle Islands” responds to the natural environment, specifically water and fire, as the effects of climate change become increasingly severe,” says Vincent. “Each print centers on a turtle shell as a suggestion of the world as a tangible object–referencing cosmological and ontological myths were the turtle shell is the world or supports the world, as we know it–as well as a signifier of a natural structure against various dynamic elements.”

The Roxy Regional Theatre

The Roxy’s Peg Harvill Gallery will unveil their newest show, featuring the work of Peggy Bonnington, a retired local teacher and artist.

“Drawing and painting has been a passion since childhood,” says Bonnington. “A preference for the unique has led me in experimentation with a focus on having fun and pleasing myself in a style often described as whimsical.  I like ‘playing’ with line and color as well as different textures and media.  My journey as an artist has continued to unfold, with latest interests including book arts and ceramic mosaic pieces.”
