CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) -Congratulations to Officer Greg Granderson with the Clarksville Police Department (CPD), who recently received a Community Service Award at the 2018 Tennessee Gang Investigator Association (TNGIA) Conference for his efforts to keep children from participating in gang activities.
The TNGIA, founded in 1998, is made up of local, state, and federal law enforcement, corrections, and court system professionals whose interest or investigative responsibilities include the identification and prosecution of crimes related to gang activity.
“Officer Granderson has been at the forefront of promoting the goals of the TNGIA through his creation of a comic book series for Team GREAT and assuming a leadership and mentor role as a GREAT instructor in our local schools,” said Jim Knoll, CPD spokesman.
Granderson used his lifelong passion for superhero comic books as inspiration to author a three-part comic book series to complement teaching the Gang Resistance and Education Training (G.R.E.A.T.) program in elementary schools.
The series of TEAM G.R.E.A.T. comic books seeks to reach youth in an entertaining and compelling way, while addressing the lessons of the G.R.E.A.T program such as making good decisions, controlling anger, respect, etc.
