CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The remnants of Hurricane Ida will move over Clarksville early this week, bringing up to 4 inches of rain and wind gusts up to 25 mph, along with the risk of flash flooding.

The hurricane hit land in Louisiana on Sunday and will be making its way north, entering Middle Tennessee on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Montgomery and surrounding counties will be under a Flash Flood Watch from 7 p.m. Monday through 1 a.m. Wednesday.

“Heavy rainfall will be the main threat, with 2 to 4 inches of rain across the mid state and locally higher amounts to around 6 inches possible,” the NWS alert said. “Localized flooding will be possible, but it’s not expected to be the magnitude of last weekend’s flooding.

“Wind gusts of 20 to 30 mph will be possible Tuesday and Wednesday. We can’t rule out strong/severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and isolated tornadoes late Monday into early Tuesday, but this is highly dependent on Ida’s track,” the NWS said.

For local severe weather alerts, tune in to radio stations Beaver 100.3, Q108, Z97.5, Rewind 94.3 or NewZee 105.5.
