CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Middle Tennessee, including Clarksville, will have rain most of the day Saturday.

Temperatures will plummet Saturday night with rain turning to snow this evening and ending by the mid-morning hours on Sunday. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Clarksville-Montgomery County Saturday at 6 p.m. through Sunday at 3 a.m.

The National Weather Service says rainfall amounts of 1 to around 2 inches are likely with localized higher amounts possible. Minor flooding of small creeks, streams, low lying areas and other flood prone locations may occur. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.

A strong cold front will move through the area Saturday afternoon and evening, dropping temperatures rapidly across the mid state. This will change the rain to a mix of rain and snow with some freezing rain this evening, then all snow just before midnight.

One to two inches of snow will be possible through early Sunday morning in the advisory area. Snow is expected to come to an end during the early morning hours Sunday before sunrise.

Light snow, along with any leftover standing water on area roadways, bridges and overpasses, could freeze and cause
travel difficulties from Saturday evening into Sunday.

Temperatures on Saturday night are expected to drop to about 25 degrees and will likely remain below freezing Sunday, with a low of 18 degrees Sunday night.

Very cold temperatures are expected on Monday morning, with lows dropping into the teens area-wide. Wind chills may fall to near or below zero in some areas.
