CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Sen. Marsha Blackburn brought her campaign for Tennessee governor to Clarksville on Saturday, drawing a standing-room-only crowd to Johnny’s Big Burger.
The restaurant was packed as attendees filled the dining area. State Rep. Aron Maberry opened the event with a prayer before introducing several speakers who endorsed Blackburn’s campaign for governor. Maberry praised Blackburn’s record and said, “Marsha’s leadership has produced real results in Tennessee.” He also told supporters that, “Whatever Marsha puts her mind to do, she’s going to do it.”

Montgomery County Mayor Wes Golden welcomed the crowd and said Blackburn’s leadership would benefit the county. “I can tell you right now that Marsha Blackburn, being our governor, is what’s best for Montgomery County,” Golden said. “She is a candidate that has our best interest at heart.”
Sheriff John Fuson also addressed attendees, highlighting Blackburn’s work with local officials on issues affecting the community. “I’ve worked with Marsha when she was our representative in Congress, and now that she’s our senator,” Fuson said. “She has always put Tennesseans first.”

Blackburn: ‘Everybody wants to move to Tennessee’
When Blackburn took the podium, she thanked supporters for attending and reflected on Tennessee’s growth while outlining priorities she said would guide her administration if elected governor. “We’ve got a great campaign going, and this is so exciting for our state,” Blackburn said.
She pointed to Tennessee’s economy and population growth, saying, “Everybody wants to move to Tennessee. We are the best place, the best place to live, to work, to have a family, and to have jobs.” Blackburn said she is seeking the governor’s office to prepare Tennessee for future growth. “This is the reason to run for governor, to make certain everything is in place for future generations,” she said.
Blackburn explained several priorities she said would guide her administration if elected governor, including education, public safety, health care, energy production, economic development and election security. She said Tennessee is well positioned for future growth as more authority returns to the states, telling supporters, “President Trump is sending power and authority back to the states every day.”
Tennessee is “a well governed, well led state,” she said. “We are ready to supercharge Tennessee, supercharge our economy … and supercharge how we deliver health care.” She said the state “should be number one” in education, energy production, protecting life and protecting children. Blackburn also spoke about her support for law enforcement. She also called for strengthening election security.
She encouraged supporters to vote in the upcoming election and to stay involved in the campaign. “We’re going to work as a team to improve the lives of Tennesseans,” Blackburn said.
Blackburn will be on the Republican primary ballot on Aug. 6. The general election is Nov. 3.
