CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Crews with Clarksville Fire Rescue were dispatched this morning to a structure fire on Savannah Trace Drive, and while the fire ended up being put out, the house sustained significant damage, and four family pets were found deceased.
At 9:21 a.m. on Monday, the initial 911 call reported smoke and flames coming from the residence on Savannah Trace Drive, and dispatch received multiple additional calls reporting the fire.




“Upon arrival, Ladder 3 confirmed heavy smoke coming from a three-story home located on a cul-de-sac. All occupants were out of the home prior to CFR’s arrival, but they advised crews that there were animals still inside the home,” said CFR’s Facebook post.
- Entry was made and primary search was initiated by 9:35 a.m.
- Crews located the fire in the basement and had water on the fire by 9:40 a.m.
- Primary search was completed and the fire was called under control at 9:56 a.m.
- Ventilation began and all crews were pulled out for rehab before beginning the secondary search at 10:06 a.m.
Crews continued checking for extension and hitting hot spots at this time, and the fire was called out at 11:28 a.m. Fire crews remained on scene until 1:03 p.m.
Overall damage of Clarksville structure fire
According to CFR, the home sustained significant smoke damage, but the fire department made an effective stop that kept the majority of the fire confined to the basement.
“During routine searches, three cats and one dog were unfortunately found deceased. We send our deepest condolences to the residents on the loss of their pets,” said CFR on Facebook.
The fire department also said one occupant was transported by EMS for smoke inhalation. Another occupant chose to seek medical treatment himself for smoke inhalation. Two firefighters sustained minor burns while responding to the event, but both were evaluated by EMS and quickly returned to operations.
The American Red Cross is assisting the five displaced adults, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Responding units included: Ladder 3, Tower 12, Engine 2, Engine 4, Rescue 3, Squad 1, District Chief 3, Ops 2, Battalion Chief 1, Engine 1, Ops 1.
