CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Here’s your lineup of back-to-school festivities and rip-roaring music around Clarksville this weekend.
Downtown @ Sundown: Departure, a Journey Tribute Band, will be playing at the Downtown Commons on Friday evening from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
Possumstock: From this Friday to Sunday, anyone 18 and over can enjoy Clarksville’s local music festival. Starting at 3 p.m. on Friday at Pope Farms, there will be local artists, food, and camping for the whole weekend. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased here or at the door.
APSU APEX Weekend: There will be various events happening throughout the weekend for new and returning Govs.
Friday:
Campus Resource Fair 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Morgan University Plaza.
Greek Fest & Ice Cream Social – Join the fraternity and sorority community for ice cream, giveaways, and yard games 5 to 7 p.m. at the Quad.
“Glowchella” Paint/Dance Party – A music festival-themed interactive dance party featuring glow accessories from 8 to 11 p.m. at the intramural field.
Saturday:
“Govs Garage” Car Show and Meet-up – Students, APSU employees, and community members will show off their vehicles from 1 to 3 p.m. behind the Foy Recreation & Fitness Center. This event is open to the public.
First-Generation College Student Celebration 4 to 5 p.m. at the Morgan University Center Ballroom.
SLE Monocle Madness Carnival – An old-fashioned carnival 6:30 to 10 p.m. behind the library includes food, games, and rides to welcome APSU students, faculty, and staff to the start of another school year.
Sunday:
AWAKE – Interdenominational Worship Service from 10 a.m. to noon at the Morgan University Center Ballroom.
8th Annual Gov Run – Participants are caked in color during this 3 p.m. color run at the intramural field on campus. The run includes crowds of cheering students and an excess of color – sprays of red and yellow water and clouds of orange and green powder.
Housing Welcome Back Bash at 5 p.m. at the Morgan University Plaza.
Movie on the Lawn – Brace yourself and keep quiet for “A Quiet Place 2” at 7:30 p.m. at the Browning Lawn, recently named the Evans Harvill Memorial Quadrangle.
Summer at Beachaven: On Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m., Chris Crow will be playing music at Beachaven Winery, and Zanders Pizza will also have food available to purchase. On Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Chris Carpenter will be performing and Tacos Azteca will be serving up smiles.
Bankin’ Festival: On Saturday, at Run-A-Mok Outfitters in Port Royal, there will be the Bankin’ Festival. This event will feature live music from four live bands, tie-dye shirt making, ArtLink, cornhole and alcohol and food sales. All proceeds to support the Safe House. Hummingbird & Butterfly Festival: On Saturday at the Wade Bourne Nature Center, come explore the wonders of nature. It will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
