CLARKSVILLE, TN – Clarksville Area Urban Ministries has a new executive director to lead the organization: Maggie Pearson.
Pearson, who was selected after an extensive search and a review of several qualified candidates, has a breadth of knowledge in nonprofit management, marketing and grant writing, according to a news release from Urban Ministries.
She is a native of California and has a Bachelor of Arts from California State University, Fullerton. While in California, she worked with the National Charity League and most recently with St. Thomas Ascension Health.
“We think Mrs. Pearson will bring her talents and expertise to our organization at an integral time of change for Clarksville Area Urban Ministries,” said Sandra Simms, board chairperson and acting executive director.
Urban Ministries is in the midst of a major new initiative: the building of a new SafeHouse for victims of domestic violence.
Under the direction of the board and SafeHouse Program Director Megan Setter, the residents have been temporarily located to another facility in order to sell the aging prior SafeHouse property.
Pearson and her team will partner with the board and volunteers to embark on a capital campaign to raise the funds to build a new SafeHouse property.
“It is a very exciting time to be part of Clarksville Area Urban Ministries, and I am truly honored to be asked to lead such an important organization at such a pivotal time,” Pearson said.
To contribute to the SafeHouse effort, call Pearson at the Urban Ministries office, 931-648-9090.
