CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Trystne Coryell, 19, has announced his campaign for Clarksville City Council, Ward 6.

Coryell was born in Clarksville and has lived here most of his life. He joined the Montgomery County Mayor’s Emerging Leaders Program at 16 to gain more insight into how the local government was run. He became a member of the National Society of High School Scholars at 17. He graduated that same year, a year earlier than most other high-schoolers.

He said he is motivated to run for this position due to his deep-rooted passion for change, growth and creating a better world for everyone living in it. Coryell said the city needs to refocus on the family unit, community involvement, and historical preservation. Instead of tearing down Clarksville’s history for big business, he believes we need to cherish these pieces of our history for generations to come. He also wants to reduce the personal impact of taxes, place an emphasis on safety and provide family-building activities.

“Clarksville was not built by big corporations. It was created off the backs of those American families who struggled and are still struggling through a time of uncertainty, era of inflation and a time where the cost of living has drastically increased yet base incomes have not,” Coryell said. “Rather than exacerbating this problem, we should be supporting our community and families to maintain what Clarksville was built for.”
