DICKSON, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Dickson veteran Joshua Ferguson made a new friend this week, and the two of them have a lot in common.
Ferguson, who lost his leg in an IED explosion, adopted Scooter, a three-legged puppy who was found in Burns, Tennessee.
According to WTVF, Scooter was found by a group of fishermen at Johnson Creek with a badly wounded leg. Veterinarians believe he may have gotten it stuck in something and chewed it to escape. It was later amputated at Animal Medical Hospital.

The two share a positive attitude and friendly demeanor. Ferguson adopted Scooter from the Humane Society of Dickson County, and the two have become fast friends.
“He makes it easier for me to remember, hey it’s a beautiful day,” Ferguson said in an interview. “You realize really just how tremendous a journey life is.”
In the future, Ferguson hopes Scooter can be a service dog so that he can visit other amputees.
