CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – After conducting an initial evaluation at the intersection of College Street and North 1st Street, what was thought to be a sinkhole, turned out to be structural damage to an underground combined sewer vault, according to a news release sent by Clarksville Gas and Water.

Excavation of the site will begin as early as Tuesday, May 14, and once the underground utilities are uncovered and damage assessed, plans for repair will be laid out.

The news release said during the evaluation period and throughout repairs, College Street will remain closed to through traffic from North 2nd Street to North 1st Street. Motorists, including transport vehicles, will be detoured to North 2nd Street for access to Riverside Drive.
