CLARKSVILLE, TN – BSA Troop 514 of Clarksville held their annual Planting of the Flags ceremony at Greenwood Cemetery on May 25. The event was sponsored by American Legion 007, Commander Chuck Clark, and Troop 514 Scoutmaster Gerald Foster.

“The American Legion 007 and Troop 514 have been doing this project together for the past 71 years,” said Foster.

Greenwood has over 1,640 veterans buried in our historic cemetery from all services and all wars. Over 96 scouts participated in the Planting of the Flags this year, with Pastor Tim Ferrell giving the opening prayer.

Troop 514 would like to thank all the Scouts, their leaders and families that participated in this year’s event.

“We thank you all for your service to honor our deceased veterans, and our community, that gave their all so that we can enjoy our freedom. This is an annual event across the United States for all cemeteries whether they are government owned, public, or private. It is a privilege to be a part of such a magnificent event,” said the troop in a release.
