CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) A vehicle left running was stolen while the owner went into a Clarksville convenience store.
The theft occurred Friday at 11:49 am Friday at the Mapco at 2491 Fort Campbell Blvd.
According to Clarksville Police spokesman Jim Knoll, the victim was in the store for around 30 second when he turned and noticed his vehicle gone, then spotted it turn onto Jack Miller Blvd.
A witness told police he saw a male and female enter the 2004 Ford Expedition and drive off.
The victim later spotted his vehicle parked at the Circle K at 601 Tiny Town Rd. and watched as the male suspect went inside the store.
He blocked the Expedition in using the vehicle he was driving, exited and removed the keys from the ignition.
A female exited the vehicle from the passengers side and entered the store to alert the suspect.
The pair exited the store and both attempted to walk away from the store. The victim attempted to detain the man by grabbing him by the shirt. The suspect pulled away, lunged at him, at which time, the victim punched the man in the face. Both male and female suspects were able to get away from the victim and ran into the woods behind the store.
The stolen vehicle was processed for evidence and returned to the owner.
Police are requesting the public’s assistance to identify the suspects, described as a white male, approximately 6’0, 170 lbs. and a white female with pink/purple hair, approximately 5’9, 120 lbs.
