CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Adams man charged with nearly three dozen sex-related offenses in 2019, including allegations involving a minor, pleaded guilty Monday to two counts and received 10 years of probation with lifetime sex offender registration.

Christopher Scott Monson, 55, was scheduled to stand trial Monday when he pleaded guilty to certain lesser charges, among them criminal attempt to commit aggravated sexual battery, according to court records. All remaining counts were dismissed.

Judge William Goodman III approved the settlement agreement, and Monson was represented by attorney Stephanie Ritchie-Mize.

Under the plea, Monson received two consecutive five-year sentences, both suspended to state probation, for a total of 10 years on supervised probation. He is required to register as a sex offender for life and have no contact with the victims.

A December 2019 indictment listed 33 charges, among them aggravated sexual battery and rape of a child. Clarksville Now has excluded details to protect the privacy of victims.

Monson’s case was severed from that of his co-defendant, Christy Monson, on May 13. She was charged in December 2019 with two counts of failure to report child sexual abuse, coercion of a witness and tampering with evidence. Her case remains pending in Montgomery County Circuit Court, with her next hearing set for July 13 before Judge Goodman.
