NASHVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Police at Nashville International Airport intercepted an estimated 22 pounds of high-grade marijuana Tuesday night on a flight from Oakland, according to WKRN News 2.
Kenisy Leon Adair, 24, was booked Wednesday into the Hill Detention Center on charges of resisting arrest and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
According to an arrest affidavit for Adair obtained by News 2, a narcotics trained K9 “gave a positive indicator of the presence of narcotics” coming from two pieces of luggage.
When Adair picked up the bags believed to contain the drugs, he was approached by agents with the Drug Enforcement Agency, police said. He reportedly dropped the bags and tried to run but he was tackled to the ground.
When agents searched the luggage in question, they said they discovered nine vacuum-sealed bags containing 21.6 pounds of high-grade marijuana.
The suspect claimed he had picked up the bags for a friend but later admitted they were his, investigators said.
Adair was already on probation for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute in Georgia.
