CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – One of the best high school basketball players to come out of Clarksville has added another accolade to her resume. Following a breakout sophomore season at Louisville, Imari Berry was invited twice this summer to compete with Team USA’s 3×3 program.
The Clarksville High School alum collected nearly every honor possible during her time with the Wildcats. This included earning McDonald’s All-American, Tennessee Miss Basketball and Gatorade Tennessee Player of the Year honors while becoming her school’s all-time leading scorer.
Now, Team USA has provided another stage for the former five-star recruit to showcase the talent her hometown has watched for years.
Berry: ‘If I didn’t come to Louisville, I wouldn’t be in that position’
Berry credits Louisville, her teammates and the Cardinals coaching staff for helping make the opportunity possible.
“If I didn’t come to Louisville, I wouldn’t be in that position. So just thanking them and my teammates for making me who I am now,” Berry told ClarksvilleNow. “And then, of course, my family. Coach Walz definitely knows some people in the Team USA area, so just getting connected with that helped.”
Berry’s first opportunity with Team USA came in May at the USA Basketball 3X Nationals in Mesa, Arizona. Playing alongside Louisville associate head coach Jonneshia Pineda, Berry’s team won its first five games before falling just short in the championship.

After getting her first taste of 3×3 basketball, Berry returned to Team USA from June 27 through July 3 for the 2026 FIBA 3×3 Nations League Americas Conference. The tournament served as a qualifier for the 2026 FIBA 3×3 U23 World Cup in Wuhan, China. Competing in multiple countries throughout the week, Team USA went nearly perfect and clinched a World Cup berth by winning their final stop in Chile.
Berry recognizes Clarksville’s support, what’s next
Even while competing overseas, Berry said the support from Clarksville made her feel right at home.
“The Clarksville community actually made me feel a little at home while I was in Chile,” Berry said. “They were sending me a bunch of texts and different stuff like that.”
If selected for the World Cup roster, Berry will head to China in September. As she prepares for her junior season at Louisville, the opportunity to compete on the international stage is one she sees as another chance to grow her game.
“I came back Sunday and had to come back Monday and run, and I felt like I was in pretty good shape. Conditioning-wise, that’s huge,” Berry said. “I feel like 3-on-3 just gives you another look. You’re playing in the half court, playing defense and you’ve got to move quicker. It actually keeps you in shape.”
