CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Montgomery Central two-way player Gabe Eddington has been named Clarksville Now Player of the Week for tossing a no-hitter and lighting it up in the batter’s box in two games played last week.
Entering the week of March 18, the Montgomery Central Indians had compiled a record of 1-5, which included losing five consecutive games. However, the team looked to turn their fortunes around against the likes of Clarksville Academy and Northwest High, and that’s exactly what they did.

Montgomery Central began their week on Tuesday, March 19, when they faced off against the Clarksville Academy Cougars baseball team. Each team fought for the upper hand throughout the game, but the Indians really separated themselves from their opponents in the fifth inning.
Montgomery Central was able to score five runs in the fifth to pull out to a 7-2 lead. However, the Cougars were able to fight back in the seventh inning, where they scored 6 runs, to tie the game at 8-8.
When the bottom of the seventh inning came around, Eddington decided to take the game into his own hands. With two outs and a runner on first, the senior two-way player came to the plate and blasted a walk-off double into centerfield to win the game.
Following Montgomery Central’s victory over Clarksville Academy, the Indians turned their attention to the Northwest High Vikings who they faced on Thursday, March 21.
Eddington started the game on the mound for the Indians and dominated the night. The senior threw a five-inning no-hitter while striking out 14 batters on the night in a 21-0 win over Northwest. He also went 2 for 3 at the plate with 1 double, 3 RBI’s, 2 runs scored and 2 walks earned.
