CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A man admitted to raping a 12-year-old child and was sent to prison to serve his full term in circuit court.
Damien Michael Fields was originally charged with two counts of rape of a child, two counts of attempted rape of a child and one count of aggravated sexual battery.
He was scheduled to begin a jury trial on January 27, 2020, in Judge Jill Ayer’s court, but instead entered into a plea agreement with the State of Tennessee.
Fields pleaded guilty to one count of rape of a child and agreed to serve 25 years in the Tennessee Department of Corrections.
He must serve his sentence at 100 percent before he is released. He must also register as a sex offender and be subject to community supervision for life.
According to court documents, Fields sexually abused a 12-year-old girl on several occasions in July 2018.
DNA evidence would’ve been presented at trial, showing the presence of his DNA on the victim’s intimate body parts.
Fields was arrested in Mississippi and then extradited to Montgomery County to face the charges.
