CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Halloween is just around the corner, and while 2020’s celebrations might look a little different due to COVID-19, many in the Clarksville area are still planning on moving forward with their spookiest events of the year.
Regardless of whether you and your family decide to trick-or-treat this year, here’s a list of the family-friendly events to take your little ones to.
Per the Tennessee Department of Health, social-distancing is recommended at most of these events, and mask-wearing is encouraged where social-distancing is not possible.

Friday, Oct. 16 – Halloween Movie at The Mill
- The Mill at 1101 Dover Road will host a showing of Hocus Pocus starting at sundown. There will be food vendors on site, and guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. Saturday, Oct. 17 – Haunted Swim

Hosted by the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department at the New Providence Pool at 168 Cunningham Lane, this annual event is scheduled from 7 to 10:30 p.m. There will be a DJ, games, and other Halloween-themed activities. Sunday, Oct. 25 – Clarksville Makers Market presents Haunted Halloween
- This event, hosted by Scriptures & Sawdust Handmade Gifts & Decor at 260 B Needmore Road, is happening from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Haunted Halloween is all-age friendly, and guests will be invited to trick-or-treat from vendor booths. The full craft fair will be open, along with a few make-and-take workshops. There will be live music, food trucks, a petting zoo, fall photo booth, costume contest and a Haunted House. Friday, Oct. 30 – Halloween at Fort Defiance
- Hosted by Clarksville Parks and Recreation, visitors are invited to gather around the bonfire at Fort Defiance Civil War Park & Interpretive Center at 120 Duncan Street from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitors are invited to listen to haunting historical tales of woe and terror. Friday, Oct. 30 – Scary Skate Night

Magic Wheels at 1671 Fort Campbell Blvd. is hosting a spooky-themed skate night from 6 to 9 p.m. It will cost $7.50 for entry, and skate rentals cost $3.50. Magic Wheels advises that a “scary character” will come out to the rink around 8:15 p.m., so smaller children who scare easily might want to leave before this time. Friday, Oct. 30 – Wands and Wizards: A Harry Potter Themed Trivia Night
- Are you versed in spells and mischief? Have you read the books or watched the movies more times than you can count? If you answered yes, then this event hosted by The City Forum and Nerdy Talk Trivia at 2231-T Madison Street is for you. Summon your team of know-it-alls, come dressed as your favorite wizarding world character, and be prepared to win magical prizes lest you get knocked off your broomstick. There’ll even be a cash bar offering a hot buttery beer (there will be an alcoholic option available for elder mages only). Saturday, Oct. 31 – Fright on Franklin (now at Liberty Park)
- Instead of walking the sidewalks of downtown Clarksville, visitors to the Fright on Franklin event will drive through Liberty Park at 1188 Cumberland Drive, and collect candy from local businesses. It’s taking place from 1 to 4 p.m. and COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place. For more, visit an earlier story on the event.
Saturday, Oct. 31 – Halloween Fall Festival at The Mill
- The Mill on Dover Road will also host their annual Halloween Fall Festival on the day of from 2 to 5 p.m. Several shopping vendors will be on site, along with food vendors. Saturday, Oct. 31 – Scare-Crow Trunk-or-Treat
- The 4th annual, indoor trunk-or-treat event will be held at the Crow Recreation Center at 211 Richview Road from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. There will be an all-ages costume contest, which will be judged on the following categories: Cutest, Best Quality, Most Original, and Best Group. Saturday, Oct. 31 – Spooks and Sweets Free Halloween Event
- This event will be hosted at the Eagle Event Center at 131 Tiny Town Road from 3 to 6 p.m. This is a free event for children 12 and under, and all children must be accompanied by an adult. Saturday, Oct. 31 – Steak n’ Shake Free Kid’s Shake
- This Halloween, all children under the age of 12 in costume are eligible to receive a free kid’s shake in the flavor of their choice from Steak n’ Shake. Clarksville’s location is at 2819C Wilma Rudolph Blvd. in the Governor’s Square Mall plaza.
