CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Kirkwood Cobras flag football team traveled to Northwest High School for a district flag football matchup. The Cobras led from start to finish with a 45-0 blowout of the Vikings, led by five touchdown passes from Marley Rios.
The Cobra offense features multiple pitch option plays and multiple girls who can pass. It gave the Vikings fits early, as Zoe Thompson, Aubrey Luker, Lillian Peacock, and Patience Young each found the endzone in the first half for a big halftime lead, and the route was on. Defensively, it wasn’t any different, as the Vikings crossed midfield once the entire contest.

“We’re just thankful to have so many talented girls, so we had to scheme around that to make sure they all have the ability to make plays,” said Kirkwood head coach Nick Perchich. “Defensively, we’re starting to live up to the mentality we want to have of yeah, that stop was cool, but why did they get a first down?”

The rout continued in the second half, with Rios racking up three more touchdown passes to Jackie Ramos, Peacock, and Ellie Shires. The Cobras ran away with the game easily, continuing their hot start to the season. The Cobras have big goals this season, and look to continue to build towards them as the year goes on.
“We just want to get better every week,” said Perchich. “We’re starting to come together in the way that we’re trying to, we scheduled a lot of really good competition and do things differently so we can take this thing further.”
