CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- (CLARKSVILLENOW) Approximately 27 veterans who participated in three wars from Tennessee and Kentucky will take a once-in-a-lifetime trip on an upcoming honor flight September 24, 2017.
These veterans served in World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam War with some serving in more than one of these wars. The day will begin with an early morning arrival at the Nashville airport at approximately 5:00.
During this one day tour the veterans get to visit the World War II Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, the Air Force Memorial, and the Marine Corps Memorial also known as the Iwo Jima Memorial. They will also see the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers.
Each veteran is provided a guardian, which is an individual who pays their own way for the privilege of escorting one of these heroes. These flights are free to the veterans. Honor flight also takes trained medical personnel to serve the veterans.
The veterans will arrive back at Nashville at approximately 9:05 PM CT for those wishing to welcome them back.
