CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – After a rainy Wednesday, freezing weather will punch through this weekend, with lows dropping into the teens Sunday night.

The Thanksgiving forecast has improved though, with the chance of rain at only 20% and a high of 46, according to the National Weather Service. By Sunday, that high will drop to 35, with the low only 16 degrees.

In response, the Emergency Warming Shelter will open in the gym at Madison Street United Methodist Church, 319 Madison St., with help from Manna Cafe Ministries and Urban Ministries. The doors will open Sunday, Dec. 1, at 4 p.m. daily to allow guests to shower and to get a clean set of clothes, a hot meal and a warm place to sleep. Everyone will need to leave by 8 a.m. daily.

Volunteers and meal sponsors are needed, with dinner served at 5:15 nightly. Volunteer shifts are 5-11 p.m. and 11 a.m.-7 a.m. Call or text Debbie at 931-217-9461 for more information.
