CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Tennessee Region of the American Red Cross announced this week that Katy Hagtrom, executive director for the Tennessee River Chapter, will be leaving her position on May 17, to pursue new opportunities and return to her home state of Michigan.

The Tennessee River Chapter serves 12 counties in middle Tennessee.

Hagstrom began her work with the Red Cross as a volunteer in 2015 and was named executive director for the chapter in 2017.

“One of the hardest experiences in life is wishing an amazing colleague farewell,” said Greg King, chief operating officer for the Tennessee Region. “Katy is a great leader, team player, and has built strong relationships within her community.”

In her time, Katy has deployed to Florida and Alabama to support Hurricane Irma and Michael responses while simultaneously managing operations across the Tennessee River Chapter in Middle Tennessee.

“We will miss her charming attitude and knowing she is there for us when called upon,” King added.

During her transition, the Board of Directors and chapter volunteers will serve in the interim until a new executive director is named.

“It is with mixed emotions that I have announced my resignation,” Hagstrom said. “Serving the Middle Tennessee area over the past four years, has been one of the greatest pleasures of my life. I will certainly miss the dedicated staff, community partners, and over 200 volunteers that selflessly give their time to serve the Red Cross mission. I am proud of the accomplishments we have made and feel confident that the team will continue to thrive, while supporting those who need us most. Even though my career is changing, my dedication to the nonprofit community will passionately continue. I look forward to the months ahead that will allow for new adventures and time well spent with family.”

The Tennessee River Chapter of the American Red Cross proudly serves Montgomery, Stewart, Houston, Dickson, Hickman, Humphreys, Perry, Lewis, Maury, Giles, Lawrence, and Wayne Counties as well as Fort Campbell Kentucky.
