CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A man charged in a high-speed crash that resulted in the death of an unborn child was found not guilty in court Wednesday.
Gregory Pierre-Louis had been charged with vehicular homicide.
The crash happened the night of March 3, 2019, in the area of Purple Heart Highway and Evans Road. Pierre-Louis was driving a 2008 Honda Civic east on Purple Heart, going in excess of 95 mph, according to police.
A 2011 Nissan Sentra driven by a 37-year-old woman with a female juvenile passenger was going in the opposite direction and tried to turn left onto Evans Road, crossing into the Honda’s path.
The crash resulted in multiple injuries to the woman and the juvenile, and the death of the juvenile’s unborn child.
Pierre-Louis was indicted on charges of vehicular homicide by recklessness, two counts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon and speeding.
The jury found him not guilty on Wednesday.
His attorney, Chris Clark, thanked the jury for their work in the trial.
“This jury took more notes than any I have seen in my previous 60-plus jury trials. It is great to see the justice system at work,” Clark said.
“I’m very happy for my client who will now remain a force for good serving our country in the United States Army. My heartfelt prayers go out to all families impacted by this tragic accident.”
