CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Police say a man struck by gunfire Saturday on Rider Avenue was a bystander.
The victim was struck by a stray bullet at around 2:20 a.m. during an altercation between two pedestrians and occupants of a vehicle.
Officials believe the shooting may have stemmed from a previous altercation at a nearby gas station.
The pedestrians reportedly confronted the people in the vehicle before firing several shots into the car.
The victim was standing in a driveway of a nearby home and was hit in his left bicep. He was transported to Tennova Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The car involved in the shooting was located a short time later when it was found crashed into a fence and stop sign on Caskey Drive.
Numerous witnesses gave conflicting reports to officials.
