CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – September was much warmer and drier than normal for Montgomery County this year, according to data released today by the Tennessee Climate Office. Clarksville’s average temperature this September was 80.1, which is 9.5 degrees higher than normal.
September was also extremely dry, down 3.27 inches from our normal rainfall. We received only .2 inches, which is 6% of our normal amount of rain. With not a lot of rain since then, Montgomery County is currently in “severe drought” conditions, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.
“There may be some relief around Halloween, though many cattle farmers are starting to report severe impacts on their water supply and pastures,” the TCO said.
Unfortunately, that relief could come at the expense of Halloween trick-or-treating, with a 60% chance of rain Saturday night in Clarksville as of this forecast.
