CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville High sophomore second baseman Maggie Smith has been named Clarksville Now Player of the Week following her performance in the Wildcats games during the week of March 23. Smith had a batting average of .714 over a three-game span, including three doubles and five RBIs, which helped the Wildcats collect two wins.

Smith, a Clarksville Now All-Area selection as a freshman, is coming off a season where she hit .480 at the plate, while bringing in 34 RBIs on 36 hits. She also stole 17 bases on the season. In the past week, Smith collected five hits and had an unprecedented on base percentage of .818.

Clarksville High head coach Brian Rush told Clarksville Now he realizes just how important her offensive production has been to the Wildcats’ season thus far, as the Wildcats have compiled a 14-11 record.

“Over the past couple of weeks, Maggie’s offensive production has picked up,” Rush said. “She has helped lead the Wildcat offense as we head into city and district play and has made a huge impact on the squad as a whole.”

Next up, the Wildcats face off with Rossview in a rivalry matchup on Thursday, April 2, which will mark the first matchup of the season between the foes.
