CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Stewart County Rebels traveled to Rossview High School for a Monday night softball matchup with the Hawks. Rossview struck first, but only struck once, as a pitchers’ duel between Rossview’s Olivia Quick and Stewart County’s Ema Borden began, with Borden getting the last laugh, only allowing one run, as the Rebels scored four unanswered to win 4-1.
The Hawks got the scoring started early, with Addison Sexton bringing in Layla Clark on an RBI single. Rossview pitcher Olivia Quick kept the Rebels offense at bay, allowing no runs through three innings and only seven hits in a complete game. Stewart County finally struck back in the top of the fourth, with two runs coming off the bats of Ema Borden and Mia Yasin, and the Rebels took the lead.

“It was a great battle, we made them earn everything they got,” said Hawks head coach Travis Gillette. “We are very young, and sometimes our girls can’t figure out how to put together seven full innings, but they did that tonight. Olivia is consistent, every single day. We know we’re going to have a chance when she’s in the circle.”
However, the Hawks’ old habits struck again late, with Stewart County scoring in both the top of the sixth and the top of the seventh innings off Rossview errors. The Hawks’ offense was getting on base, but couldn’t score them, much to the credit of Rebel Pitcher Borden, who ended the night allowing four total hits in a complete game, along with four strikeouts. It came down to who made fewer errors, and Stewart County did just that to steal a win in the Hawks’ nest.
“We’re still trying to figure out how to consistently score,” said Gillette. “Our hardest hurdle is consecutive hits, and getting all the girls hot on one night. We’re doing well getting one here and there, but we haven’t been able to push through. Just need to be more consistent, and we will be pretty alright.”
