NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce met with elected officials this week to discuss a variety of state and local issues.

Officials asked state government to show support for Montgomery County Resolution 14-11, which requests legislation to halt the Department of Defense sequestration cuts.

Highway transportation funding was also on the agenda. Leaders hope to encourage the Tennessee Department of Transportation to provide money for construction on Warfield Blvd., work on Trenton Rd., and construction on Highway 48/13.

Officials requested that the Tennessee State Legislature to consider removing non-charge backs for those government entities classified as Reimbursing Employers regarding unemployment compensation.

Officials also asked the Tennessee State Legislature to consider classifying ephedrine and pseudoephedrine as Schedule III controlled substances available only through prescription and to fully fund the Tennessee Methamphetamine and Pharmaceutical Task Force.

Last on the agenda was the issue of property disclosure. Leaders are promoting a change in the Tennessee Residential Property Condition Disclosure Act, which requires realtors to fully disclose known defects on a property including sink holes and injection wells. The change would include residential property, new construction, and previously owned homes.
