CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Tennessee Craft has announced the biennial showcase, The Best of Tennessee Craft Exhibition, which runs August 4 – October 15, 2018, at Clarksville’s Customs House Museum and Cultural Center.
The public is cordially invited to the opening reception at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center on Saturday, August 4, from 5-7 p.m. This juried exhibition celebrates and showcases the finest contemporary and traditional craft our state has to offer, providing public visibility and recognition for the quality and diversity of craft found throughout Tennessee. Artists will be presented awards at the reception and one artist will win the $1,000 Best of Show honor.
Guest Juror Kathryn Hall, curator at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft in Houston, Texas has selected works for the exhibition from the submitted entries and will choose the award winners.
Kathryn Hall received a BA in Art History from Wofford College and an MA in Art History from the University of Georgia. Ms. Hall is a scholar of contemporary craft and material culture. She has contributed to numerous publications including Metalsmith Magazine and Studio Potter Magazine, and most recently juried the Surface Design Association’s Exhibition in Print (Winter 2017) with Richard Elliott.
Ms. Hall currently serves on the ClayHouston board, an organization that supports ceramic artists working in Houston and the surrounding area.

This exhibition will be on display during Tennessee Craft Week (TCW), October 5-14, 2018. TCW shines a spotlight on Tennessee craft artists, the handcrafted work they produce and the economic impact that creative artists bring to communities throughout the state of Tennessee. With more than 75 events statewide, the craft tradition is a visible reminder of the vibrant quality of life offered to both residents and the many guests who travel to enjoy the beauty of our state.
