CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The U.S. Army Parachute Team, also known as the Golden Knights, are coming to the Clarksville-Montgomery County Regional Airport’s Outlaw Field, April 24-27. The Golden Knights is a demonstration and competition parachute team of the U.S. Army.

Lt. Colonel Kevin Polosky, Commander of the U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion in Nashville, talked about some of the individuals who will be taking part in the event. “We have everything from a high school guidance counselor all the way to state senators who will be jumping,” said Polosky.

Polosky added that’s it’s a way for us to use this venue to educate educators, politicians, athletes and community partners on what the Army is all about. The event is a tandem camp where people are paired up with a Golden Knight jumper.

The event will involve around 15 to 17 people a day for the four days who will take three to four hours of classes where they will learn the proper way to do a tandem jump. Polosky said they will also learn about the great opportunities offered by the Army.

“We want to tell the Army’s story. The Knights will tell their story and people will tell what the Army means to us. We’ll pair the individuals up with a jumper and they’ll go up and exit the aircraft,” said Polosky. The Golden Knights do hundreds of jumps all over the country each year and are ambassadors for the Army and share with people what it feels like to jump out of an airplane.

“We do recruiting all over Tennessee. In Clarksville it’s unique because Clarksville understands the Army a lot better than anywhere else. We have the great 101st Airborne here, they see soldiers everyday and they understand the Army,” Polosky said.

Polosky said it’s about education people on the Army. Very few of our jobs are combat related jobs. We have cyber security jobs and veterinary technicians. Whatever it is you want to do in the outside world, you can do it in the Army.
