CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The sixth annual Walk4Water took place at Liberty Park on Saturday, to raise awareness and funds for global access to clean water.
Organized in partnership with Healing Hands International, the event drew 196 walkers and raised $25,226: enough to fund three new clean water wells in communities without reliable access to safe drinking water.

The walk followed a route around the park and Marina to reflect what many people around the world experience. Participants walked about 4 miles, similar to the distance many women and children travel each day to collect water, often from unsafe sources.
“Every day … there are people that walk for clean water,” said Paul Wisdom, walk coordinator with Healing Hands International. “On average, women and children are walking 4 miles round trip to get to a water source … that’s shared with other animals and filled with diseases.”
At the halfway point, participants met at the Marina to fill jerrycans with water before continuing another 2 miles along the route. The full containers weighed about 40 pounds.
In 2025, Healing Hands International reported 67 Walk4Water events across 23 states. Those events helped bring programs and resources to 515 new communities.
Over the past five years, the Clarksville walk has helped fund 16 wells, providing clean water to more than 20,000 people worldwide. Donations are still being accepted. To contribute, visit the Healing Hands International website.
